Beaten Man Found in Parking Lot

Sandra Yi ReportingPolice in Midvale have a mystery on their hands after a badly beaten man is discovered in a parking lot. Police are trying to identify the victim and the person who attacked him.

The victim was dumped behind a Midvale business where no one could see him.

Luis Salinas: "The guy is right here."

Luis Salinas points out where he found the victim. He made the disturbing discovery when he got to work at 6 o'clock this morning.

Luis Salinas: "I have surprise because I see somebody on the floor in the cold and blood everywhere. And yeah, I don't feel good, I don't know."

The man was unconscious and covered in blood. He was badly beaten, his injuries so severe he was airlifted to the hospital.

A tire mark at the scene may be a clue.

Asst. Chief Tony Mason, Midvale Police Dept.: "It appears that somebody had beaten him at another location, and taken him to that 7220 south and 900 east and dropped him off."

Police say the man may have been left for dead.

Tony Mason: "If somebody is going to kill somebody, that's usually what they'll do. They'll take them to another location and dump them off."

Salinas says the victim looked so bad, he was surprised the man was still alive.

Luis Salinas: "There's blood in there and I think he's dead, because too much blood everywhere."

Salinas tried to get help. He doesn't have a cell phone so he stopped a jogger, who called police. Now investigators are trying to figure out what happened. They didn't have much to go on.

Tony Mason: "He didn't have any identification on him, so at this point we don't know who he is."

The victim is still in critical condition at the hospital. If you have any information, call Midvale Police.
