SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- The University of Utah says award-winning author David McCullough will deliver the school's commencement address in May.
McCullough has twice won both the National Book Award and the Pulitzer Prize. He is the author of "1776" and "John Adams," which was turned into an HBO miniseries that won several Golden Globes on Sunday.
He is also the author of a biography of former President Harry S. Truman. Other works have documented events like the Johnstown flood, one of the worst disasters in U.S. history, and the creation of the Panama Canal.
McCullough has also been awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Commencement is on May 8.
University President Michael Young says it's an honor to have McCullough deliver the address.
