PHOENIX (AP) -- Polygamous-sect leader Warren Jeffs is in the custody of Arizona authorities to face charges in the marriages of two teenage girls to older men.
Authorities say deputies from the Mohave County sheriff's office took custody of Jeffs from a Utah prison.
He's due in court Wednesday, 2 1/2 years after prosecutors in the northwestern Arizona county filed charges against him and he went into hiding.
In Utah, Jeffs was convicted last year of rape as an accomplice in the arranged marriage of a teen girl to her older cousin. He's lately been in the prison infirmary because of a self-imposed fast.
Jeffs is president of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, which practices polygamy and arranged marriage.
