THE MARVEL UNIVERSE — Marvel is hitting it out of the park at the box office with every movie it puts out. The company will likely find success when “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” opens in April, but that could come to a halting stop when “Guardians of the Galaxy” opens this August.
The first trailer for the next step in the Marvel revolution premiered on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday night and the reaction is mixed. Some are ecstatic about the sci-fi super hero flick and others are left scratching their heads wondering what they just saw.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” isn’t a particularly well-known property of Marvel and could struggle to find an audience. The film is helmed by director James Gunn, who is better known for his campy horror films than big-budget superhero movies, and stars Chris Pratt of TV fame.

This is the biggest gamble Marvel has taken, but before passing judgment let’s talk about the trailer.
According to the trailer “Guardians of the Galaxy” will be different than any of the other Marvel films we’ve seen to date and will clearly include director Gunn's dark humor.
Check out our full breakdown of the trailer in this week's Flicks Junkies Podcast where we also give you recommends on Netflix, Redbox and Amazon Prime.
