WEST JORDAN A fire in West Jordan closed U-111 near the Old Bingham Highway Thursday night.
Twenty-two units from all over the Salt Lake Valley helped battle the blaze, which began around 5 p.m. It jumped the road and spread into the Trans-Jordan Landfill near 10800 South.
With the help of landfill employees and bulldozers, firefighters were able to keep the flames away from buildings. It took them about six hours to put out the fire.
Investigators are looking into whether lightning caused the fire.
