SALT LAKE CITY -- A bad case of graffiti at Ensign Peak has Salt Lake City officials asking people to be on the lookout for vandals, and to call the city to report any tagging.
There's spray painting on the rocks, on trashcans and tagging along the trail and at the concrete steps near the monument.
But the graffiti supervisor for Salt Lake City, Brent Olander, says they have not cleaned it up yet because they were not told about it until now.
"There's no one who is going to hike up there as part of their job to see if there is graffiti. We do rely on the public to report that."
Olander says it's no worse than other spots around the city. He says in the past, tagging in the area has been cleaned up as quickly as possible, but it is a challenge to get all the cleaning supplies up to the monument because they have to be hiked in.
