SALT LAKE COUNTY -- A 6-year-old girl was seriously burned by some boiling water at a campsite in Big Cottonwood Canyon Sunday night.
Salt Lake County Canyon Patrol units responded to reports the girl had fallen into a campfire around 8:00. That ended up not being the case.
Officers are talking to family members to determine exactly what happened.
The girl suffered 2nd degree burns to over 20 percent of her body. She was driven down to the mouth of the canyon, and a helicopter then flew her to a hospital.
