RICHFIELD, Utah (AP) -- The bodies of a Florida couple were discovered in a central Utah apartment, victims of a murder-suicide weeks ago, police said.

At the landlord's request, police entered the apartment Nov. 17 and found the bodies of Catherine Adams, 36, and John W. Adams, 46. Police believe they died Oct. 12, the same date on a suicide note.

"John wrote in his note he was in a better place. He said he had been sick," Richfield Police Chief John Evans said Tuesday.

Evans said he hasn't received autopsy reports.

"We're kind of curious what they were doing here. They lived a strange lifestyle, just not coming out of the house, not associating with anybody," he said. "They were good at paying rent on time."

The couple had been living in Richfield, 160 miles south of Salt Lake City, for about a year. In Florida, they had ties to the Miami area, the chief said.

Family members in Florida were contacted, based on information in the note. Catherine Adams' mother, from Davies, Fla., traveled to Utah and said she hadn't seen her daughter for 17 years, Evans said.
