SALT LAKE CITY -- An 82-year-old Salt Lake City man admitted he accidentally poisoned two dogs last year.
Merrill Wilson pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated cruelty to animals earlier this week. He told the court he was trying to kill foxes who had been attacking the geese in the backyard of his Memory Grove home.
Two dogs playing in the off-leash part of the park last November got into the poison and were killed.
Wilson's pleas were entered in abeyence, which means if he stays out of trouble for the next year, they will be removed from his record.
