(KSL News) The decision to ban smoking in all city-owned outdoor places has been postponed.

Although many support the ban, the Salt Lake City Council decided to delay the vote because council members need more time to talk about the specifics.

The plan would prohibit smoking within 50 feet of large gatherings on public property, and allow fines up to $299.
