HOLLADAY — It was the final regular season game of the season; and for some players, it was also the final regular season of their high school careers.
Bountiful's Manu Tia made sure his final regular season game as a Redhawk would be a memorable one against the Olympus Titans.
Tia played with an intensity that many know him for, but Olympus felt that wrath to its fullest. He penetrated Olympus' offensive line on nearly every play and had career highs in solo tackles (5), total tackles (12) and sacks (1.5) in a game.
It was impressive numbers for any defensive lineman, but to have those stats all in one game speaks to Tia's dominance.
Finishing their regular season at 7-2, Tia said when it comes to being zoned in during play comes down to, "all the training that (finally) pays off."
All the hard work paying off for the Redhawks has Tia and his teammates with their eyes on the prize for a state championship.
When Tia was asked about the postseason, he said, "We're going to go all the way, I believe in them. I believe in our team ... and we've just got to take it."
After sweeping region play with a 5-0 record, Bountiful will get a bye week, along with the rest of the 5A region, before they will challenge Granger High (5-5, 5-2 5A Region 4) on Oct. 30 at 5 p.m. in their pursuit for the championship that Tia and the rest of Bountiful have their eyes on.
