GARLAND, Box Elder County — A grass fire on Friday afternoon prompted an I-15 closure at the Riverside exit and an evacuation for Harley Drive residents.

The Garland Fire Department was on the scene of a grass fire in Garland, issuing an evacuation for all Harley Drive residents.

I-15 was also closed in both directions at the Riverside exit, said Utah Highway Patrol Lt. Zach Randall.

UDOT gave an estimated clearance time Friday evening of 6:40 p.m.

The Harley Fire was estimated to be 75 acres, according to Utah Fire Info. It was burning north of Tremonton and west of Garland along I-15.

Structures and critical infrastructure, like power lines, roadways and water systems, were being threatened, according to Utah Fire Info.

Utah Fire Info in its post to X underscored the importance of Garland residents to follow instructions from local officials and to evacuate immediately if told to do so.

Residents nearby should avoid the area, according to Utah Fire Info.
