AMERICAN FORK, Utah (AP) -- A driver has died after his SUV hit a freight train outside of American Fork.
The Utah County sheriff's office says someone found 40-year-old Cory D. Crofts' Ford Explorer around 5 a.m. Wednesday at a rural railroad crossing.
Sheriff's Sgt. Spencer Cannon says the train engineer was unaware of the accident and didn't stop.
Cannon told The Salt Lake Tribune for its online edition Wednesday that the Explorer drove through and snapped the crossing arms before hitting the train.
