SALT LAKE CITY — A large building caught fire on Thursday near I-215 and California Avenue in Salt Lake City.

Firefighters battled a fire at 1240 S. Wallace Road, according to the Salt Lake City Fire Department. Black smoke could be seen billowing up from the building shortly before 2 p.m.

The address matches the Ace Intermountain Recycling Center in Glendale, though it wasn't immediately clear if the fire was burning inside or outside of the facility.

Salt Lake City firefighters dealt with a large fire at another recycling facility in the city earlier this year. A fire broke out in an exterior storage area of the METech Recycling near 369 S. Orange Street in May, which resulted in a massive firefighting response.

Massive plumes of smoke were visible throughout the valley before that fire was extinguished.
