CEDAR CITY — A man died after police say he crashed his SUV into a tree in southern Utah Monday night.

About 7:30 p.m., police and emergency crews responded to a report of a single vehicle accident by the intersection of Industrial Road and Airport Road, Cedar City police said in a statement. They said the driver, a man in his 20s, was traveling west on Industrial Road in a SUV when he did not stop at the intersection and crashed into the tree.

Officers performed CPR and first aid, but the man — whose name was not immediately released — died at the scene.

Police say it's unclear why the driver did not stop at the intersection, but the crash remains under investigation.
