Woman dies in crash on US 89 in Sanpete County

INDIANOLA, Sanpete County — One person is dead after a crash involving two vehicles on U.S. 89 near Indianola on Tuesday.

Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Mike Alexander said the crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Troopers arrived on scene and located a 10-wheeler dump truck and a passenger vehicle.

Investigators determined the truck had lost control and spun into oncoming traffic where it was struck by the passenger car, according to UHP. The car's occupants, a man and a woman, were transported to a hospital.

The man suffered moderate injuries, but the woman died from her injuries. Her identity has not yet been released.

The incident is still under investigation to determine what caused the truck to lose control, UHP said.
