OGDEN — Sheriff's deputies arrested a man and a woman Wednesday in connection with a weekend shooting death in the far western reaches of the county.

Michael Robles Gaisbauer, 18, was arrested for investigation of aggravated murder, obstructing justice and eight counts of felony discharge of a firearm in connection with the shooting early Sunday. McKinzi Sundquist, 19, was arrested for investigation of obstruction of justice. Both were being held without bail in the Weber County Jail as of Thursday morning.

Simultaneously, the investigation into the case continues, the Weber County Sheriff's Office said in a statement Thursday. "Detectives continue to interview witnesses and pursue leads to identify additional suspects involved," reads the statement.

Gaisbauer, from Perry, Box Elder County, told Weber County sheriff's investigators he was present at the scene of the incident around 9350 West and 900 South when it occurred, according to a police booking affidavit. One man was shot and later died, and two others suffered gunshot wounds but survived.

Gaisbauer "admitted to being on the scene early Sunday morning ... and firing a weapon eight times toward a crowd, which caused others to also start shooting. An individual was struck and killed during this incident," the affidavit states. "After the shooting, he admitted to fleeing the scene and disposing of the firearm."

As of Thursday, no formal charges had been filed against either of them. Yellow crime scene tape reading, "Sheriff's line do not cross," sat discarded along 9350 West at the site of the incident on Thursday as well as a large clear plastic bag containing popcorn.

Sundquist, from South Ogden, "was placed at the scene" of Sunday's incident by multiple witnesses, according to police. A friend of the family of one of the victims from Sunday's incident told KSL.com that an argument among some of the people present led to the indiscriminate firing of guns and the gunshot wounds to the three victims, apparent innocent bystanders. A booking affidavit for Sundquist references some sort of dispute.

"(Sundquist) was with the suspect during the shooting and was one of the individuals who started the argument. She is the current girlfriend of the shooter and lives with him," according to the affidavit. "When she was interviewed as a key witness, she withheld key information regarding the homicide, regarding the firearm involved and the events that transpired."

The incident, called in to dispatchers about 1 a.m. Sunday, occurred during an apparent clandestine street racing competition, according to the friend. The affidavit doesn't specify what exactly occurred, but says bullet casings "for multiple calibers" were found at the scene. The friend told KSL.com that an argument among two women preceded the firing of weapons by at least two others.

Jesus Cuadras Garcia, 22, of Ogden, later died after sustaining a gunshot wound to the head. He had been on life support, according to the Weber County Sheriff's Office.

His young daughter, Ximena Cuadras Ambriz, suffered a wound to her leg and hip but survived. A third man, who also survived, suffered a gunshot wound to his shoulder, according to Weber County authorities. Both are recovering, according to the sheriff's office.

Investigators ask anyone with information on the case to contact Weber County dispatchers at 801-395-8221 and reference case number 25WC30717.

Detectives have been "working tirelessly to interview witnesses and identify those responsible for this senseless act of violence," reads Thursday's statement. Officials from the Weber-Morgan Homicide Task Force and the Ogden Police Department have been assisting.
