CRESCENT JUNCTION, Grand County — A truck driver was killed when two semitrucks collided on eastbound I-70 in Grand County Sunday evening, troopers said.

Two semitrucks were traveling east on the highway just west of Crescent Junction at about 8:15 p.m. The first truck appeared to take a view area exit, then cross the gore area and reenter the highway, according to troopers.

The second truck then collided with the trailer of the first truck, the Utah Highway Patrol said. The trailer was carrying blueberries and was destroyed, while the front of the second truck was severely damaged.

The driver of the second truck died at the scene, troopers said. The driver and co-driver of the first truck were not injured.

Wreckage from the crash blocked both lanes of the highway overnight and was still blocking lanes early Monday morning. The Utah Department of Transportation said one lane of traffic was open as of 8:30 a.m., and advised drivers to "expect minimal delays."

Troopers said the Grand County Attorney's Office will screen the case for "any potential charges." The name of the driver killed has not yet been released.
