RIVERDALE, Weber County — A Utah man was killed in a Nevada car crash on Sunday.
At about 12:45 p.m., a Ford F-150 was heading north on state Route 140 near the southeast Oregon state line when the driver stopped and all three occupants got out of the vehicle. They then started tending to dogs kenneled in the truck bed when a Hyundai Tucson heading north struck the rear of the truck, Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The two truck passengers were standing behind the truck when the Hyundai hit them, police said. Both passengers — Kevin Austin, 52, of Riverdale, and Glen Meyers, 61, of Sun Valley, Nevada — were killed in the collision.
The driver of the truck was not injured. The Hyundai driver was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Police said they are investigating impairment as a contributor to the crash.
