PROVO — The family of a woman police say was killed was remembering her Tuesday as a generous, loving mother who always saw the best in people.
According to Provo police, Lesa Hyde's body was discovered Sunday in a shed in Provo, and officers arrested an ex-boyfriend in connection with the killing.
Hyde's son, Brennan Cronquist, spoke with KSL-TV via Zoom from his home in Washington, D.C., Tuesday morning about his mom's life that was cut short.
"She had a lot of life left to live and a lot of love left to give," Cronquist said. "She was tragically taken from her family at a time that they needed her most."
According to Cronquist, Hyde leaves behind two children, and she was looking forward to being a grandmother to his newborn son.
"It was just about a week after my son was born was the last time that we got to speak with her," Cronquist said. "She was ready to be a grandma, and that was everything in her world was to be a grandma."
Cronquist said his mother was a "lively" and "energetic" woman, and she helped raise him and his sister in a home that valued the importance of family.
"She was a fantastic mother to us growing up when we were young," Cronquist said. "Even through hard and trying times of her life, she always made it clear that family was the most important thing to her."
Cronquist said his mother over the past year had called him multiple times a week to chat on Zoom, and despite living cross-country, they had grown closer over that time.
