CEDAR CITY — Police are investigating after a person was shot during what they called a "road rage incident."

Police said about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, officers responded to a report of a "violent incident" between a motorcycle rider and a vehicle driver where a physical confrontation occurred.

The situation escalated, and a shooting happened near Fiddlers Canyon Drive and Main Street in Cedar City. Police say the motorcyclist produced a gun and shot the other driver.

The motorcycle driver left the scene, but police apprehended the driver shortly after and took him or her into custody.

The person who was shot was taken to a hospital in critical condition and is receiving treatment for unspecified injuries

Police did not give details on why they believe the shooting was related to road rage, but they said there was no threat to the public Wednesday evening.
