MT. PLEASANT, Sanpete County — A woman was killed after losing control of her vehicle near Mt. Pleasant late Tuesday, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The woman, 54, was driving south on Mountainville Highway about three miles north of Mt. Pleasant at 10:39 p.m. in a Subaru Outback "at a high rate of speed" when she failed to navigate a curve near Gravel Pit Road, troopers said.

The vehicle crossed over the oncoming lane, left the road and struck a concrete loading dock next to a building on the side of the road. The woman — who was the only occupant of the vehicle — was killed on impact.

The crash occurred on a road maintained by the county, and the sheriff's office requested that the highway patrol handle the investigation of the crash.

The name of the driver has not yet been released and more information was not available.
