TOOELE — Crews have recovered the body of a man who fell through the ice at Settlement Canyon Reservoir in Tooele County while trying to rescue a woman Monday night, officials said.

When officers arrived at the reservoir at 6:55 p.m., they were told a woman in her early 20s fell through the ice and a man went to help her. He fell in, and crews found his body about 11:20 p.m., Tooele Police Cpl. Colbey Bentley said.

On Wednesday, Bentley identified the man was 20-year-old Emaloni Lutui of Taylorsville.

The woman was treated for cold exposure but is expected to be OK, Bentley said.

Settlement Canyon Reservoir was closed for all activity on Tuesday. A Facebook post from Tooele about the closure said, "Our most heartfelt and sincerest condolences go out to the families of those involved in last night's incident."
