HEBER CITY — Sheriff's deputies have released the identity of a woman who was killed in a snowmobile accident in Heber City on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident happened about 3 p.m. near Daniels Summit Lodge. Sarah Scott, 51, apparently lost control of a snowmobile she was operating and struck a tree, according to a statement from the Wasatch County Sheriff's Office. Scott later died from her injuries.

Further details were not made available.

"We respect the privacy of the family during this difficult time and do not plan to release additional details at this time," the statement says.

Correction: County officials initially incorrectly reported the victim's name as Sarah Smith. Her name is Sarah Scott.
