TAYLORSVILLE — A Taylorsville woman was arrested Wednesday and accused of giving her uncle fatal doses of heroin.
Kimberly Ann Wallwork, 55, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of manslaughter.
Taylorsville police were called to an apartment near 4260 South and 850 West on a report of an unconscious man who was not breathing.
"The male victim was found deceased inside (the) apartment," a police booking affidavit states.
Taylorsville police on Thursday identified the deceased man as 66-year-old Nicholas James Wallwork.
Kimberly Wallwork, who is the man's niece and "admitted to living with the victim for five years and providing care for him," told detectives that from Tuesday night through Wednesday morning she injected her uncle with heroin to "ease his pain," according to the affidavit. Police say Nicholas Wallwork suffered from dementia.
"(She) stated she administered four and half doses of heroin, followed by two more doses and then one more dose," according to police. "Officers also located a journal which contains the written heroin dosages (she) had given to (him)."
Police say Kimberly Wallwork told officers that she uses heroin daily. Nicholas Wallwork was found "with what appeared to be a leg infection" and there were "significant amounts of narcotics" found in the apartment, according to police.
