Police seek person of interest in West Valley City shooting death

WEST VALLEY CITY — West Valley police are seeking a person of interest in connection with the shooting death of a man Friday afternoon.

Police received reports of a shooting near 2800 W. 2700 South around 4:30 p.m., where there was a verbal exchange between two people that ended in gunfire.

Brian Torres, 21, was killed and the shooter fled the scene, according to police.

Police have identified Esteban Galvez, 18, as a person of interest in the case. Galvez was seen leaving his home in Magna on foot and may be in the Orem area, according to Roxeanne Vainuku of the West Valley Police Department.

He is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes and tattoo on his neck with the number "662."
