WACO, Texas — The injury bug continues for Utah football.
After a fall camp that featured several injuries sprinkled throughout the two-deep of the roster, Utah running back Micah Bernard suffered a season-ending injury leading up to Utah's game against Baylor, Utah head coach Kyle Whittingham announced Saturday.
"Micah Bernard's out for the season; that's a season-ending injury," Whittingham said. "We will not have him the rest of the way."
Bernard's was an off-the-field injury sustained early in the week, according to sources, though the exact injury was not officially announced by Utah.
The junior out of Long Beach, California, entered the season healthy after a couple nagging injuries last year and was expected to be a major contributor to Utah's run game. Bernard was a key figure in Utah's ground game against Florida in Week 1, where he gave Utah a spark with his 45 rushing yards.
Bernard has rushed for 1,177 yards and six touchdowns in his four seasons he's played at Utah.
