MIDWAY, Wasatch County — A 25-year-old man who attacked his father was shot and killed at a cabin near Midway on Monday, police said.

Wasatch County sheriff's deputies were called about 6:30 p.m. to the Swiss Mountain Estates, a cabin area west of Midway near Swiss Alpine Road and Tanner Lane, on a report that one man had been stabbed and another shot.

The initial report stated that a 25-year-old man stabbed his 53-year-old father multiple times. At the time of the incident, multiple 911 callers stated that the father defended himself using a firearm, police said.

Deputies pronounced the 25-year-old dead at the scene and the father was taken by medical helicopter to an area hospital in critical condition but is now stable, according to a statement from the sheriff's office.

The Wasatch County Sheriff's Office said the names of those involved are not being released during the active investigation, but it said it has confirmed "there are no ongoing threats or safety concerns to the public."
