PAROWAN — Two young women who died in a car crash on I-15 in southern Utah on Friday evening have now been identified.

Five people in a Honda Civic were going south 13 miles north of Parowan at 8:17 p.m. Friday when the car rolled, according to the Utah Department of Public Safety.

Officials identified the woman killed in the crash as Alexia De Campos, 19. The other victim who was ejected from the vehicle and died on scene, Marcela Miranda, 17, was identified by friends and family members in a GoFundMe campaign.

"The vehicle lost control and traveled off the road to the left into the median and rolled several times," said a statement from the department.

The man who was driving and the woman in the front passenger seat were both flown to a local hospital with "critical injuries," troopers said. The other female passenger was taken to a local hospital via ambulance after suffering "moderate injuries."

A GoFundMe* for De Campos said she and her friends were on their way to St. George for a vacation.

"The (loss) is irreparable and we're now living a moment of pain, consternation and sadness," the account says.

De Campos was born and raised in Brazil, and the account will be used to help get her body back to her family there for her funeral.

"Lack of seat belt use and excessive speed are being investigated as possible contributors to the crash," the department said on Monday.
