VIRGIN, Washington County — A hiker found human remains near Sheep Bridge Road in southwestern Utah Saturday afternoon.
Around 1:54 p.m., dispatchers responded to a call that a hiker had found the remains, and upon arrival, it was confirmed the remains were human, according to Washington County Sheriff's Sgt. Lucas Alfred. He said detectives were called to the scene to begin a full investigation.
The investigation is ongoing and information on the identity of the individual is still unknown, Alfred said. As of now, the initial investigation shows no sign of suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and no threat to the public.
