MOAB — A 17-year-old girl was killed Tuesday after a wrong-way crash in Moab, Utah Highway Patrol troopers said.

The girl, who was driving a Subaru Outback, was traveling north on U.S. 191 about 3 miles south of Moab at 3:25 p.m. when, for an "unknown reason," she entered the southbound lanes and hit a pickup truck pulling a trailer, UHP Cpl. Tara Wahlberg said. The girl was pronounced dead soon after.

Crews closed the highway in both directions for about two hours while the crash was cleared. The road reopened about 6 p.m., Moab police reported.

A male passenger in the girl's vehicle and the male driver of the truck were transported to a local hospital with injuries that did not appear life-threatening.
