PLEASANT GROVE — A man was arrested early Sunday after police say he used a stolen gun to rob a pair of collector sneakers from someone selling the shoes online Christmas Eve.

Wyatt Anthony Meadows, 20, of Pleasant Grove, was arrested and booked into Utah County Jail on suspicion of aggravated robbery, theft of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person and obstruction of justice, according to jail records.

Pleasant Grove police Sgt. Cory Fenton said a person was selling a pair of Nike Air Jordan 5 sneakers on Facebook Marketplace when they were contacted by a man wanting to purchase the shoes and arranged for a meetup in the area of 500 East and 1100 North late Saturday night.

"When the victim arrived, the suspect was waiting for him. And as the victim pulled up to the suspect (shortly after 11:30 p.m.), the suspect pulled a gun and pointed it at the driver and demanded the shoes," Fenton said. "The victim turned the shoes over, the suspect walked off."

Police located the man, later identified as Meadows, a few blocks from the incident, within an hour of the initial call, according to a police affidavit filed in 4th District Court. Fenton said the man initially resisted arrest but was taken into custody without further incident. Arresting officers recovered a gun that Meadows had with him, which was determined to be stolen out of Salt Lake County, Fenton added.

Jail records did not list any legal representation for Meadows, as of Sunday morning.
