SALT LAKE CITY — Police on Tuesday arrested a man for investigation of robbing three banks in the past week.
Krishan Singh, 26, is accused of robbing a credit union and a bank in the span of four minutes on Friday. Singh was arrested Tuesday afternoon after robbing another bank, Salt Lake police said in a news release.
Singh fought with officers before being taken into custody, but there were no reported injuries, police said.
Investigators said they first received a call about a robbery at 9:10 a.m. on Friday from the Mountain America Credit Union at 1715 W. 700 North. The caller said a man walked in and demanded cash, then left before police arrived.
Police received another call at 9:14 a.m. the same day from the Zions Bank at 787 N. Redwood Road, which is in a parking lot across the street from the Mountain America Credit Union. Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, according to the release.
Investigators said they received a third call about a robbery at the Key Bank at 1098 S. 300 West at 12:43 p.m. on Tuesday.
After the robbery, Singh was seen riding Trax to the City Creek Mall, where he was then seen on surveillance video buying new clothes and shoes from multiple stores, according to a police booking affidavit.
With the help of the FBI, police found Singh waiting for a train at a Trax station near 500 West and 200 South at 2:41 p.m. on Tuesday, the release says. Singh is being booked into the Salt Lake County Metro Jail.
Police found his discarded clothing — which matched the clothing worn in the robbery — in a store where Singh purchased new clothes, according to the arrest report. Singh was later interviewed and confessed to robbing the Zions Bank and Key Bank, and attempting to rob the Mountain America Credit Union, according to police.
