SALT LAKE CITY — A man who police say shot at a group of juveniles was arrested by Salt lake police overnight.

Siupapa Muliaga, 21, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of felony discharge of a firearm and illegal discharge of a firearm.

About 1:45 a.m. Thursday, police were called to an apartment complex near 170 West and 200 North on a report of an altercation involving a gun.

"Upon further investigation, (Muliaga) was witnessed shooting a handgun in the direction of another person as well as shooting the same handgun into the air," according to a police booking affidavit.

No one was injured in the conformation, although police said Thursday they were also investigating allegations that Muliaga also punched two juveniles.

Muliaga got into a confrontation with three people near his apartment whom he accused of taking items from his car, the affidavit states. Detectives recovered two shell casings from the scene. Salt Lake police said Thursday the investigation into what prompted the confrontation was still ongoing.
