SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake police are now treating a death investigation from earlier this week as a homicide, but are not saying much about the killing.
Just before 8:30 a.m. Monday, police responded to a report of an unconscious adult near 400 South and 600 West. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Although police reported "suspicious circumstances" were found there, it was not determined to be a homicide until an autopsy was completed by the Utah State Medical Examiner's Office.
Salt Lake police have released very little information about the case. They won't even say whether the victim is a man or a woman, the age of the victim, a cause of death or why the death is believed to be the result of homicide, other than that was the manner of death determined by the medical examiner's office.
A statement from the department says it "will not comment on the circumstances that made the death suspicious."
Police are asking anyone with information about the case to call them at 801-799-3000.
