SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 2 high school football games across the state.
KSL.com Game of the Week: Bountiful at Farmingon
Why did we choose this game?
For Davis County schools, there's few that can compete with Farmington and Bountiful this season — at least that's the trajectory of two programs in different classifications that are expected to have great seasons. Farmington, which enters the second week of play at No. 17 in the KSL.com Top 20+1 poll, has a real shot to be the top team in Region 1 this season.
No. 18 Bountiful, which comes off a 28-3 win over Highland in Week 1, has stiffer competition in Region 5, especially with a Box Elder team looking dangerous and lurking around the corner. But a win over the higher-classification Farmington could be enough to give the Redhawks what they need to maintain the momentum before region play starts.
For Farmington, it's an opportunity to show that the relatively new school is here to stay at the top. Beating a tough Bountiful team won't be its biggest obstacle this season, but it certainly is a good start, and we're looking forward to see who comes out on top.
Other games we'll be watching:
- Thursday: Woods Cross uses 21-0 second-half run to score Brody Benson's first win with Wildcats
- Skyridge capitalizes on errors, shuts out East 42-0 in home opener
- Springville gets second-half shutout in 45-17 win over Skyline
- Orem downs out-of-state visitors Desert Pines 21-14 in defensive battle
