SALT LAKE CITY — Check back for the latest scores from all the Week 1 high school football games across the state.
KSL.com Game of the Week: Lone Peak at Timpview
Why did we choose this game?
For the opening week of high school football, there's no better game — at least on paper — than the defending 6A champions traveling to Provo to take on an always tough Timpview team that is looking to rebound from its 9-3 season that ended in the quarterfinals last year.
The Knights, which check in at No. 3 in the KSL.com Top 20+1 poll to open the season, lost four starters on offense, but there's no reason to believe head coach Bart Brockbank won't have his team ready to start the season, even if in hostile territory to begin the season.
The Thunderbirds, which open the season ranked No. 6, remain a formidable foe from 5A. A game against a higher classification team won't scare Timpview, who will look to use the game as a springboard to another strong season. In Week 1, it's a great time to show what Timpview has up its sleeve — the road won't get any easier from here.
Other games we'll be watching:

- Riverton edges out Syracuse 27-25 in Week 1 battle
- 'We're really a second half team': Mountain Ridge comes storming back to beat Olympus
- Sky View overcomes cramping issues, soundly defeats Salem Hills
