OGDEN — A teenage boy is in the hospital after a shooting that Ogden police believe was accidental.

Around 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Ogden police were called to a home in the 400 block of River Drive to investigate a report of a gunshot, according to a news release posted on Facebook by the Ogden Police Department.

Police and first responders got to the home and discovered a boy, roughly 15 years old, was indeed shot. The child was taken to a local hospital, and police did not disclose the boy's condition as of Thursday afternoon.

The news release also said that police believe an 18-year-old man was handling the firearm when it went off, resulting in the child's gunshot wound.

As of 2 p.m., police were still investigating the shooting.
