TOOELE — A 21-year-old man was shot in a Tooele home early Sunday, police say.
The man heard a noise in the home near Droubay Road and 970 East around 12:30 a.m. and walked upstairs to find a stranger in the house, Tooele police detective Colbey Bentley said.
The intruder, who police believe might have been a burglar, then shot the 21-year old in the left shoulder. The man then called 911 and drove himself to the hospital.
He is in stable condition, and police said the injury is not life-threatening.
Police searched for the intruder overnight, but have been unable to find them. Police describe the intruder as a white man in his 20s or 30s, wearing all black with a bandana over his face.
"Someone broke into our house and shot our adult son in the shoulder," a woman wrote in a Facebook post Sunday. "He is okay, but we are all shaken up."
