SALT LAKE CITY — A man was arrested early Tuesday after police say he stabbed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend in a tent in the northern part of Salt Lake City.

Rick Dewey Dever, 44, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury.

Police were called to the area of Beck Street and Victory Road about 12:15 a.m. on a report of a man who was stabbed. According to a jail booking affidavit, Dever entered a tent belonging to his ex-girlfriend and found her new boyfriend.

"An argument ensued and (Dever) then used a knife to stab the victim several times in the abdomen and chest," the affidavit states.

Police said they located Dever walking south, away from the crime scene.

An updated condition of the victim, a man in his 50s, was not immediately available.
