LAKE POINT, Tooele County — One person was hospitalized Sunday after attempting to put out a house fire in Lake Point.

The fire was called in around 4 p.m., and when firefighters arrived, they saw "heavy fire coming out of the windows," according to North Tooele Fire District Chief Randy Willden.

One person was in the home on Center Street at the time and was taken to the burn center at University of Utah Hospital after he was exposed to smoke while attempting to put the fire out, but Willden did not know the extent of his injuries. Two others who live in the house were not home at the time of the blaze.

"The home's probably a total loss," Willden said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
