OREM — Two BYU students died and two other people were hospitalized Friday evening after a two-vehicle crash in the intersection of 400 S. State Street in Orem.

The accident occurred about 9:20 p.m. when a vehicle traveling south collided with a vehicle making a left-hand turn on 400 South, Orem police said.

Officers arrived and discovered Hailee York and Ashlyn Hanzon deceased from injuries sustained in the crash, according to police. The women were passengers in the vehicle attempting to make a left turn. Both York, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and Hanzon, of Pearland, Texas, were 21 years old.

The drivers of the vehicles were transported to the hospital with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

There were no other occupants in the second vehicle. York and Hanzon were BYU students who had recently been roommates.
