Lopez is a person of interest in the homicide case of 82-year-old Farrell Bartschi, who was shot and killed on Oct. 4 in front of a house near 3800 South and 4200 West, according to police.
Police believe Lopez was in the area at the time of the shooting and has a connection to the owners of the home where Bartschi was found. Though Bartschi lived in the area, he has no known connection to Lopez or the owners of the home, police say.
Lopez is 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs 210 pounds, according to a description released by police. He is bald with a black beard and mustache.
The U.S. Marshals Service is offering a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading directly to the arrest of Lopez. He was granted parole from the Utah State Prison in March and is wanted for allegedly violating his parole conditions, according to court records.
Anyone with information about Lopez or the car is asked to contact West Valley City police at 801-965-5200.
