RIVERTON — A man who police say had more than 1,000 images of child pornography saved his iCloud has been arrested.
Jason Andrew Lytton, 40, was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on Wednesday for investigation of 100 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor.
The investigation began while police say Lytton was trying to set up a Venmo account for his business. To do that, he gave "his email account and passwords to his iCloud" to another person so that person could link the business Venmo and iCloud accounts, according to a police booking affidavit.
While setting up the account, the witness reported finding a file labeled "hidden." Inside the file were "hundreds" of images of suspected child pornography involving girls between the ages of 8 and 15, the affidavit states.
The witness contacted Lytton's brother to tell him what was found, who in turn called Lytton, according to the affidavit. Lytton then called the person working on the iCloud account and "admitted he had a problem" but wanted to "explain things before speaking with anyone else," the affidavit states.
Riverton police were contacted and served a search warrant on Lytton's iCloud. Investigators discovered more than 1,000 images of suspected child pornography, according to the affidavit. Some child pornography videos were also allegedly found.
