Game of the Week: Weber at Syracuse

Thrilling last-second field goal lifts Weber over Syracuse, ends unbeaten streak

With time running out, Weber's Jaycee Jones knocked in a 50-yard field goal to win a competitive back and forth game.

Why did we choose this game?

A lot of the focus in high school football goes to Region 4, but the Region 1 battle between Weber and Syracuse should be no less entertaining. No. 15 Weber in the KSL.com High School Top 20+1 rankings came into the season as the preseason favorite to win the division, but stumbled a bit along the way with back-to-back losses to start the season against powerhouse programs Bingham and American Fork.

No. 6 Syracuse, though, hasn't stopped winning in a surprise start to the season. The Titans didn't look their best last week in a 21-3 win over Salem Hills, but they have the talent to contend. But can they do it against a difficult Weber team looking to right the ship in region play? Syracuse is the home team, so maybe there's a home-field advantage.
