CENTRAL VALLEY, Sevier County — A man accused of stabbing his elderly grandparents has been moved from the hospital to the Sevier County Jail.
Wade Charles Evans, 28, was arrested for investigation of two counts of attempted aggravated murder and two counts of aggravated assault resulting in serious injury.
The alleged incident happened Thursday in Sevier County at the home of Evans' grandparents whom he lives with.
Margo Evans, 75, and Charles Evans, 78, suffered "multiple stab and defensive wounds" and were both taken to a local hospital in critical condition, Sevier County Sheriff Nathan Curtis said.
When deputies arrived at their residence, they found the couple "covered in blood" near their truck, according to a police booking affidavit.
"I asked where Wade was and (Charles Evans) said that he had shot him twice and that he was still in his house," the affidavit states.
Deputies went into the house and called out for Evans multiple times.
"We again called out and Wade came out of a back area holding a large knife in his right hand at his side. We told him to drop the knife and he did," according to the affidavit.
After Evans was handcuffed and as detectives tried to piece together what happened, they learned that Charles Evans was watching TV "when Wade came into the room and started stabbing" him from the side, the affidavit states.
When Charles Evans called out to his wife, she came into the room and was also stabbed, according to the affidavit. The three continued fighting between the kitchen and living room area. Charles Evans then went into his bedroom and retrieved a .38 Special gun from under the bed, according to the affidavit.
Police have requested Wade Evans be held without bail, noting in the affidavit that his father is deceased and his mother incarcerated in the Utah State Prison and "there is no family member that would be willing to accept Wade into their custody due to this violent attack.
"I believe that Wade is a danger to the community, especially if he is willing to violently attack those relatives who were taking care of him, and the only ones willing to bring them into their home," the arresting deputy wrote in the affidavit.
