HEBER CITY — A Heber City man is dead and another person was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash on U.S. 40 Thursday.

On Saturday, the man who died was identified as Michael Rivera-Vazquez, 20.

About 5 p.m. Thursday, a 2007 Subaru Impreza was traveling east on the highway when it veered left across the center turn lane. The Subaru Impreza traveled into the westbound travel lanes and struck a 2020 Chevy Silverado truck head-on, according to the Utah Highway Patrol.

The driver of the Subaru sustained fatal injuries in the crash and died on impact, UHP said. The driver of the Silverado was transported to the hospital by ambulance with serious injuries.

U.S. 40 was closed in both directions just north of Heber City for about two hours during the investigation.
