SALT LAKE CITY — One year ago, Arden Louchheim's freshman season of high school golf was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rowland Hall teenager made the most of it by clinching the Class 2A medalist honors at the Utah Section PGA state meet.

But Tuesday's title was even better.

Louchheim again earned medalist honors, shooting even-par 72 and winning by 10 strokes while leading the Winged Lions to the 2A state championship at Rose Park golf course.

All she wanted as she made the rounds a year ago on the same inner-city course in Salt Lake City was to lead her school's team. Louchheim, who also stars on the Utah Junior Golf Association summer circuit, did just that.

"It was really fun," Louchheim said last year. "I play a lot of UJGA tournaments around Utah, so it was nice to have that experience. This didn't feel too overwhelming."

The Rowland Hall sophomore tied for the tournament low with three birdies, and her teammate Jasmine Le finished 1-2 to help the Winged Lions to a four-stroke victory over second-place Beaver. Waterford (427), Monticello (432) and Millard (443) rounded out the top-five at the 18-hole championships.

Beaver senior Emrie Robinson carded 22-over 94 to lead the Beavers, who also earn a fourth-place finish from Abbi Burke (96) and fifth from Amelia Harris (99).
