LOGAN CANYON — One person is dead after a crash in Logan Canyon Saturday evening.

Utah Highway Patrol Cpl. Michael Gordon said a Dodge pickup truck with two occupants was traveling westbound when the driver went off the road. The truck rolled onto its top in the Logan River, trapping the driver inside.

Bystanders rushed to the vehicle and were able to pull the driver out, but Gordon said the man died from his injuries.

The second occupant only suffered minor injuries. Officials called for a Life Flight helicopter, but it was eventually canceled.

Logan City police dispatch said both directions of U.S. 89 were temporarily closed while officials respond to the crash. As of 8:45 p.m. all traffic is open without delays.

A DUI is being investigated as a possible factor. Officials are not releasing the victim's name at this time.
