SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Highway Patrol is asking Utahns to drive cautiously Sunday as they respond to numerous wrecks across the Wasatch Front, including two involving troopers.

The highway patrol said one trooper's vehicle was hit at 7200 South and the other at 500 South, both on I-15. The trooper who was hit at 500 South is being treated for minor injuries, the agency said on Twitter.

"We need your help letting people getting behind the wheel this morning know that the roads are a bit treacherous," another tweet from the highway patrol says. "There's ice on most of the bridges in the Salt Lake valley and the benches are seeing additional problems on the roadways. Troopers are working multiple crashes."

UHP Col. Michael Rapich thanked Utahns for "being extra careful" this morning. "Please drive safely, slow down and move over, and help our troopers keep everyone safe on our roads as they are out working in today's snow storm."

The Utah Department of Transportation listed nine different minor accidents in the Salt Lake Valley on its traffic site as of 8:15 a.m.

Salt Lake City International Airport had received about a tenth of an inch of snow overnight as of 4:45 a.m., according to the National Weather Service, with continued flurries possible through 9 a.m.
